A Very Electric Christmas Newark Theatre reviews
Moonshine Has Lost Its Luster
I was excited when they announced a new tour schedule this year after the Super Bowl. I found my way to get tickets to this very exact concert, and I couldn't wait! After my first concert, I was one of the biggest A Very Electric Christmas fans. If I could, I would have attended every A Very Electric Christmas concert I could go to.
Fast forward through the longest intermission, and A Very Electric Christmas finally comes on stage two and a half hours after doors opened. It's 9:30 pm on a Wednesday. That was a long time to sit through Aloe Blacc and a good amount of time to lose our momentum for this show, but I'm trying to stay energized and positive.
Fast forward a few months, and I'm here at the Oakland Arena. We have to watch Aloe Blacc open up, and boy, I have never been so bored in my entire life. I felt sorry for him to be up there, since I didn't see anybody feeling him and his music. Last time, we got to see Ellie Goulding open up for A Very Electric Christmas.
Finally, A Very Electric Christmas's music starts playing on the loud speakers and immediately, he sings "Moonshine" and... all is good in the world. But soon after that... it feels like every song on his setlist has the tempo sped (way) up. The show was so different compared to my first show, that me and my friend, nor many of the people around me, stood up.
I kept complaining after the showing, assuming--- he must be tired of his constant touring; he must be tired of doing the same routine over and over. I wasn't lost in it, and I could only imagine not a lot of other people were either. He didn't engage us. A Very Electric Christmas had no energy.
Anyways, from being the girl who would've gone to any state to see one of his shows, I must say that because of this one, I don't think I would attend another A Very Electric Christmas concert. I absolutely loved the feeling of the first show I ever seen him at, and I don't want to lose anymore regard for him than I did with this last show.
I still think A Very Electric Christmas is one of my favorite artists, favorite vocalists, favorite songwriters, etc., but last year--- I called him one of my favorite entertainers, and this time--- I cannot even recommend his show. I realize how important it is to give things your all every single day. Thank you, A Very Electric Christmas, for giving me one of the best concerts of my life. Last time.
